Boxtops

I am so proud of this class.

They are working hard collecting BOX TOPS!

So far we've collected...

500 boxtops and earned popsicles

1000 boxtops and earned ice cream

1500 boxtops and earned popcorn (with Bulldog cups and drink)

Thanks for supporting our school and clipping the BoxTops!

Our next class goal is to collect 2000 = a kickball game with Mrs. Ivers!

Claude Monet

Today we studied the artist Claude Monet.

He was an impressionist painter.

He liked to paint outdoors.

“Haystack” is a well-known set of paintings done by Monet.

Each painting in the series is painted at a different time of day so the paintings differ in shadow, placement, and intensity of color.

• In Giverny, France he built a beautiful water garden which became the subject of many of his paintings

Inspired by Monet, we made our own impressionistic paintings.

Do you shop at Schnucks?

Please stop by Schnucks to get a free escrip card and designate the funds to go to Gardner Elementary.  This money is also used to fund materials/activities for the school that would otherwise go unfunded. 

Henri Matisse

The last two Fridays, we studied the artist Henri Matisse. 

He loved pure, sparkling, bright spots of color and cut paper to create collages.

“Creole Dancer” is a famous collage by Matisse.  

When he created this in college, he used a background that is a colorful, irregular checkerboard.

He placed contrasting curved shapes on the checkerboard to symbolize the moving dancer.

 Inspired by his style, we made a "movement collage".
