Valentine's Day is Coming..

We will have a small class party to celebrate friendships on February 14th.  There are 27 students in the class.  If you would like to send candy or snacks to share with everyone that would be great, but not required.  Each student may bring a drink for the party for themselves.  We will be making bags for Valentine’s in class.  No need to make a mailbox!  Remember if you choose to send Valentine’s, the rule is: you must send EVERYONE a Valentine.  We want to avoid hurting any feelings, and share the joy of “friendship” with all!

In the science lab...

Sorry several of the photos are sideways.
I can't figure out how to rotate them!
So I guess we'll have to turn our heads! :)

RUST is an example.

Of these items, we are experimenting which one will rust.
What do you think?

Travel Log

We are starting a fun new project for second semester!
It will help us learn about many different places.

Last week we filled out the initial letter and they are at the post-office!

You may want to email, send a text, or somehow contact the person that you chose to send it to, so they know to be on the lookout for an envelope!

Here' the first page of the Travel Log that we are mailing to our friend/family!

Snowflakes!

  • Born in Feb. 9, 1865, on a farm in Jericho, Vermont.
  • As a child he studied all forms of moisture.  He kept a record of the weather and did many experiments with raindrops.
  • He is known for photographing snowflakes.

Bentley is one of the first known photographers of snowflakes. He perfected a process of catching flakes on black velvet in such a way that their images could be captured before they melted.

Here's a photo of a snowflake from 2014.... My friend Shelly gets the photo credit   She did an amazing job, even though she told me, "The wind makes this very difficult, I did get one! Focus is hard the wind blows them away as I find them."
